Difficulty: Easy

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Sea salt (table salt also works)
  • Liquid hand soap
  1. 1
In a small container pour sea salt to line the bottom of the container. You don't really need too much unless you want to make enough of the mixture to use for several days (it doesn't spoil so you can make a large batch to save time).
  2. 2
Pour olive oil over the salt. Pour just enough so that the salt takes on a paste like consistency. If you pour too much olive oil, no problem, just add more salt. The rougher your hands the more salt in the mixture you'll need.
  3. 3
Add a squirt of liquid hand soap. You could use regular hand soap, antibacterial hand soap or even foaming hand soap. It works with any type of liquid hand soap. The reason you want to put the soap in the mixture is it helps to emulsify the olive oil so that it's easier to rinse the mixture off of your hands. If you omit the squirt of soap, the oil won't wash off with simple rinsing (oil and water just won't mix).
  4. 4
Wet your hands and then apply approximately ½ teaspoon of the mixture to the palm of your hands. Slowly and methodically massage the mixture in a circular motion to the palms and the backs of your hands. Massage your fingers and in between your fingers in a circular motion. The massaging helps to scrub off the dead outer rough layer of skin.
  5. 5
Rinse your hands with warm water. As you run you hands under the warm water, you'll feel the difference in your hands immediately.
  6. 6
    Pat your hands dry.
  7. 7
Apply hand lotion. This is a step that is not absolutely necessary but if you have extremely dry hands, you may want to get into the habit of applying lotion to your hands after washing them. It helps to restore and maintain your soft hands.
